Flye:“The value of good friends, my personal interest in history, and the
passion of teaching young people are attributes of Fr. Flye with which I most
closely identify.” A native of Tennessee, the Rev.
Campbell has B.A. in history from the
University of Tennessee and a M. Div. from Southern Seminary. His hobbies
include coin collecting, gardening and landscaping. He also enjoys golf,
tennis and fishing. |

Who wouldn’t appreciate the irony that Father Flye would come alive on
the stage through the presence of the Rev. Charles Campbell , the pastor of
the First Baptist Church of South Pittsburg. Rev. Campbell, or “Charlie” as he is known to friends and family, is an educator himself and spent 15 years as a missionary in the Philippines where he founded and directed an agricultural school. As he says himself about his role as Father |

wrote When Ken Williams was first asked to write an original play for SCCS in 2002, he remembered the stories told around the kitchen table and decided to create a fictionalized portrait of the Flyes and a cast of characters |

which would aptly reflect
their lives while they lived at St. Andrew’s. The result will be unveiled on
July 9 at the premier of Williams’ play. Cast a
Long Shadow opens July 9 at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School (SAS)
and runs through August 7. All performances will be held in the school
theater. It is especially timely as the play is a “kick-off” event for the
upcoming St. Andrew’s year-long centennial anniversary celebration,
culminating with a series of special
events to be held by SAS during Alumni
Weekend June 2005. |
