The South
Cumberland Cultural Society was chartered by the State of
Tennessee on September 11, 2000 and recognized by the IRS as
a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in January, 2001.
Our regular program of
activities includes the following:
- Original plays written,
directed, and performed by talented people from the South
Cumberlands.
- Playwriting competitions
among regional.
- Art competitions in local
schools.
- Live radio shows that
highlight our own stars.
- Informative presentations
on the history of the region.
The South Cumberland Cultural
Society's goal is to increase public appreciation of the
historical and cultural legacy of the South Cumberland
Plateau through theatrical, musical, artistic and historical
programs. These programs are designed to promote and
contribute to the people and traditions of the region.
The office of the South Cumberland Cultural Society are
located in scenic Monteagle, Tennessee and servers Grundy,
Marion, and Franklin counties.
Mission Statement:
To preserve and promote the history and cultural heritage of the
South Cumberland region through
Theatre, Art,
Music, and History.
